RA - make it Random for a change
Hi !
I had an idea to make RA more random then it is (stack oriented)
Problem - guilds sync RA if they are decent guild people will lose
Solution - instead of putting the people in RA in the order they joined , every time timer gets to 00:00 "shuffle" them so people won't sync and make it Sync Arena
What do you think ?

Lol i hope you don't think your the first ever to come up with this idea. It has been suggested many a-time. It does seem the most logical solution, and question must be asked...Why hasn't it been put into affect? Probably because Anet have more important things on the agenda, RA isnt exactly srs buisness xD. But it is really annoying when you get stuck in a team with 3 assassins using PS build and you with whatever build your running, and going against a team with a perfect team, and then getting rolled.

Sync REALLY isn't that common of a problem in RA. People on this forum blow it way out of proportion. In all my time of playing RA, I think I've seen maybe 5 sync teams.
Running into a team that has a good team build doesn't automatically mean they synced. By the very definition of "random," eventually some teams do get really good builds that mesh well with each other by random luck. And since those random teams that roll over people keep playing until they get 10 wins, you can see these types of teams a lot.
It's only a sync if you see the same group of people again and again and/or they have same guild tags.

5? I've seen about 10 of them.
I say ONE synch team is ONE too many synch teams.
They are called random arenas, so logic dictates that either they change the name, or make them really random.
Great minds think alike, eh? I think I was the first one to come up with the shuffle idea, you can search it here in threads about RA and some other forums (although I never started a thread about it, just given the idea in 'make RA random' threads).
Also in the wiki commented it, but it seems they can' use ideas posted in the wiki, XD
Since I had that idea too and still think that it would help make the RA really random, I can't be against it of course.
Note that I don't care if related people join toghether in RA, like friends or guildies, but if that happens, it should be completely random.
If RA took a list of players instead one by one, shuffled them, and then made the teams, friends and guildies may appear in the same team, but in that case it would be just luck, not synch with the help or TS or Ventrilo.

The syncing method has been a problem for a long long time. It doesn't just happen in RA, it happens in all the low level arenas as well. These people have already ruined almost all of the low level arenas such as Shing Jea, Sunspear, Shiverpeaks and Ascalon. They get four players, usually all the same guild and you can bet these low level guys all have max armor and have done the 30 extra attribute points quests. They're referred to as "Twinks". They all go to one of the international districts and simply join. Since there's no one else in that district they're guaranteed to be teamed without even trying to sync. The arena system places them in matches against people in the American District. Anet knows about this, just like they knew when these same people were using elites in these arenas. They've since been banned, but the forged teams are driving people away from PVP play. Another problem is that you have Rangers or Ranger secondaries death leveling pets to level 20. Imagine, as a noob, going into the arena and seeing a guy that's level 3 with a level 20 Dire Pet. It seems to me that Anet would have the sense to try and preserve PVP interests rather than let them be discouraged with it. My honest opinion is that, since the existing campaigns are losing money for NCSoft, they can't be bothered spending time supporting it as they should. Bottom line, it's about the money, not the players.

/signed to make random arenas work how they were intended to work - randomly. I actually don't mind RA now and then, but all this crap (syncing, immaturity, etc) make it suck.

You all who have a problem with this best take it directly towards Anet rather than posting a hopeful thread. If this has been going on so long and people has already suggested some solutions to it, then it's about time someone progress the ordeal even further. Especially if the many threads presenting the issue haven't worked to cause a change.

meh, whatever. shouldn't be too hard to put in a mechanism to make the parties truly random.

I think the main issue would be if I'm a Korean player, I'd probably rather play with out people who speak Korean. Syncs work because certain language districts can get empty.
If one day, random languages were matched together, it would be kinda weird.

Thats a good point I didn't thought about ! But when we think about it - I never saw many people in korean district (maybe because I wasn't checking it in the right hours).
Now I had my idea improved (oh by the way yes I thought I was the first to think about it ^_^) - shuffle players stack with another districts stack only if there are more than 10 players joining battle in that district , otherwise , only make the shuffle in that same district.
Example: if there are 50 people in korean district it will only shuffle korean district alone without intervention of other districts , but if there are 5 people joining korean district then it will shuffle it with the international shuffle.
Sounds better right ?

Remove glad points. This is the reason people sync. Remove the reward and people will stop syncing.
RA was loads better before glad points after which it filled up with leavers, syncers, now reporters, syncers, and people that take the format way too seriously.

Removing the rewards doesn't prevent to join only those that synch, also prevent those that actually play fair and good and have been getting rewards for that.
Unless you replace it with something better (i.e.: old armor system -> new armor system) you can't remove something that has been added and GW players enjoy.

Hi.
I am not a hardcore PVP player (I do mostly PVE) but I used to enjoy RA. Tried RA a couple of days ago and was lucky to enter with a ballanced team. We won a couple of matches when suddely all resigned (we met a sync team). Started over and meet a sync team (not the same guild) again the first game. Left RA and didnt play for some days but tried again today. Only won a couple of matches before we met a sync team.
If you go to RA, you will find people spamming for people to join them and doing RA sync. I hope Anet will fix this or just close RA because it is not random and guild sync RA (with team builds) is common.

I've already attempted this several times. This is the response:
Hello,
Currently, It is not a violation to join a battle at the exact same time as teammates. This can be accomplished by something as simple as counting down in chat before entering the map. We certainly understand that it can be frustrating to go up against coordinated teams, but it is not a violation to hit the "Enter Battle" button at the same time as someone else.
The design team is aware of this concern within the community and has noted that some players would like game mechanics to reduce or prevent syncing. The design team will be reviewing possible changes in the future, although we do not have a timeframe for any possible changes.
Please let us know if you need help with anything else.
Regards,
GM ApplePython

Not gonna happen. Take away glad points and these people will go ballistic. Anet knows this.

Because you can just throw together a code to replace the current RA one.

Oh good, another RA thread. I don't know that there's any idea in the universe that hasn't been suggested. ANet is working on it.
So they say.
Anyway, no need for another thread. Closed.
